As I was prepping orders one evening I began to dialog with God as I typically do. I've recently hit one of the highest moments in my life! My business #GoldEndingCakery is flourishing, love is in the air, I recently received a promotion at my day job. Life is really really good! I told the Lord how I realized all of it is His hand of blessing but I was afraid. You see I've had some hard trials of life, some incredibly hard trials that make me twitch a bit when I think back on them. The Lowes have been low and I know this Christian life requires trials so I told him, "I am scared to enjoy this season of mountaintop living too much, because I know a valley is coming." It's then that God spoke to me and helped to move me out of this thinking.

The Lord told me the purpose for the trial. He said to me Mary,

  1. The trial is for your preparation

  2. The trial is for your proving

  3. The trial is for your good

The trial is for your preparation

The Lord said to me, "the trial is for your preparation."Trials increase our faith for the next level of trust required for the next level of glory. God is preparing us for what is to come as he takes us through the trials of life and thus from glory to glory to glory. Peter puts it this way,

"do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed."

(1 Peter 4:12-13)

The trial prepares us to share in the glory of Christ.

The trial is for your proving

The Lord said to me, "The trial is for your proving." Trials press us and when we are pressed we get to see first hand what is on the inside of us. This is why He is called a refiners fire and fullers soap (Malachi 3:2). We know that deception is running ramped, everyone seams to be deconstructing their faith. Trials prove us and reveal to us what God already sees, our doubts, our fears, our areas of accusation against Him and plainly where we lack faith that God is who He says He is and He will do what He says He will do. The trial is proving what is inside of us now that there may be opportunity to address it.

The trial is for your good

The Lord said to me, "The trial is for your good." It is the Job of Jesus to present us before God pure and holy (Jude 1:24). Trials reveal the areas God is wanting to heal in us. Trials are like God's highlighter where He says this is where I want to go next and what I want to do next in my child. This is where God says I want to reveal myself more fully and once the trial is walked we know Him better. The trial is for our good. In it we know the father more intimately

What do you do When Trials give you PTSD?

So what do you do when trials have given you PTSD? You lean in and ask the fathers perspective. He revealed to me His will in trials and His desire for it all that I may agree and lean in to each season of life. My instruction was to lean in. Lean into the pain of trials. Let my heart open toward God and the truth found in Him. And in the mountain top seasons and places of great joy lean in without fear of tomorrow and allow my joy to be full. So I have embraced and decided to lean in to this season of joy! Trusting that my heavenly fathers cares for me and knowing that all things are for my good and His glory.
